Hands-on-

The annual hands-on exhibition aims to promote knowledge, creativity, critical thinking and independence in thought and action. The exhibitions make topics from science, art, everyday culture and architecture tangible and perceptible for children aged 6 to 12.

The Danube

The hands-on exhibition for children aged 6 to 12

A bubbling spring stream, a mighty river, a widely ramified delta on the Black Sea – the Danube flows over 2,857 kilometres through 10 European countries. But how did this river come into being? Why does it change shape? What forces are at work within it? And who lives in and around the Danube? Artistic interactive stations, games and experiments provide answers to these questions. Steer your own Danube boat, find out how a river cruise works, and explore the diverse languages and cultures of the Danube region. Explore tiny aquatic creatures in the Danube laboratory and search for the secret migration routes of Danube
fish. Experiment with gravel, stones and sand and find out why this ‘sediment’ is so important. Come with us on a journey of discovery and explore how diverse and unique the Danube river system is!
