Let's print!

A hands-on exhibition for children ages 6 to 12

Our exhibition hall has been turned into a large print shop. Grab a tool and some colors and start printing, pressing, rolling and stamping to your heart’s content!

Printing techniques were invented to reproduce lettering on paper – like the office printers or photocopy machines you know, but there are many other ways to print as well, for example with wood-, metal- or stone plates, with stamps, or even using your own feet.
Running time:
  • 25. September 2014
    - 06. September 2015
Book printing is an amazing invention that helped shape history: Up until the Middle Ages every book had to be written, and copied, by hand. That took a lot of time and effort. Book printing made books more affordable for everybody and enabled many people to learn how to read.
Did you know that many pictures that look like they were painted or drawn are in fact prints? Artists developed these printing techniques. Why don’t you try them out?
Come to our print shop and print your own flyer on the book press, use wooden molds to stamp exotic patterns on long rolls of fabric, or design a cool paper bag using silkscreening! Or go all-out and print the walls of a whole room with tires, rubber boots and hot-water bottles!

Duration: September 25, 2014 to March, 2015 (closed on Mondays) and from March 26 to September 6, 2015 (closed on Mondays)
