Animation NOW! Sustainability Period
Creative Media Work with Children and Young People
The ZOOM Animation Studio’s collection has gathered many thousands of films since 2001. A selection of the productions created during workshops at the Animarium in Písek can be seen here.
Representatives of both institutions will network regularly, exchange ideas and implement projects.

Project results are documented here:
In December 2024, almost the entire Sladovna team came to Vienna for a visit. In various sub-groups, there was a lively exchange of ideas. The team from the animation studio focused on sharing their experiences of running workshops with children and young people isolated for health reasons.
In October 2024, the first sound workshops on the idea of ‘Telling Stories without words’ took place on the same Sunday afternoon in Pisek and Vienna. Unfortunately, none of the productions created during the workshops could be published, but the feedback from the workshop leaders from the ZOOM animation studio was very positive:
‘... I had the feeling that the kids were less shy about using the microphone for their own voice. While when they have to recite whole texts they are sometimes scared to make mistakes or to say something wrong...’
‘... Reflecting on the experience, I can see that a wordless audio play workshop offers a unique way for children to explore storytelling through sound alone. It encourages creativity and fosters teamwork...’
In August 2024, a small delegation from Vienna visited Sladovna for a mutual exchange and to plan a joint sound workshop, as the new media laboratory in Pisek now also has its own sound studio.
In May 2024, a selection of animated films from the ZOOM Children's Museum was again shown to the public during the Piskoviste festival.
The third hybrid workshop, originally planned for autumn 2023, could only take place in January 2024 due to sick leave. Here you can find the link to the resulting film "Explosive day". The documentation of the workshop format can be viewed here.
A hybrid workshop with children from Pisek took place in June 2023. The results can be seen here.
Facilitators from the ZOOM animation studio developed a workshop station for the "Piskoviste" festival in May 2023 together with the department management and with the support of artist Irina Titova. The artistic focus was on sand animation for children and families, which was realised together with the Sladovna team. The results of the workshop can be seen here.
In March 2023, a delegation from Sladovna was able to visit the new ZOOM animation studio for the first time and try out the multi-touch animation tables. There were also intensive dialogue and networking activities between representatives of both institutions. In-depth discussions were also held on the planning of the "Piskoviste" festival in May 2023 and the hybrid animated film workshops in June 2023.
At the end of February 2023, a large team from Vienna visited Animarium to conduct workshops with children and young people together with educators from Pisek and to exchange experiences. There were also preparatory discussions for the "Piskoviste" festival in May 2023 and for the further development of the hybrid workshop formats.
The first workshops of this new format took place in December 2022 and January 2023.

In October 2022, a small delegation from Vienna visited the "Animarium" in Sladovna for the first time since the end of the project and designed a hybrid animated film workshop format on site together with the project partner.
In May 2022, films from the ZOOM animation studio were presented during the "Piskoviste" festival in Pisek.
